This is an advertisement of Manjali Jewellers, Thrissur in the Marathakkara Perunnal Brochure of 2017. The ad shows a topless model showing vulgarity on the left side with a photo of the Pope blessing on the right hand side. There is a message of Jesus on that page and it appears as if the Pope is blessing the lady with less clothing on the left. What a stupidity ? The Church authorities has definitely given the nod to print it. They are only bothered of the money the Jeweller will give for the ad space. The perunnal brochure is getting expensive and elaborate like the brochure of a corporate company. When the Church authorities talk of austerity and cutting of all luxury for church events, it is being accelerated and in top gear on the other side. When the church itself shows such indulgence in spending money, how will the parishioners spend less ?? I see most of churches atleast in Thrissur are coming out with elaborate brochures full of advertisements for their perunnal or church feast. Why is the church so money motivated ? Why cannot they conduct the church feast with less extravaganza and splashing of money ? Ollur Church has brought out a brochure of 46 pages...!! This has to stop.
